How Long Can A Person Live With An Obstructed Bowel How Long Can An Elderly Person Live Without Eating?

How long can an elderly person live without eating? - how long can a person live with an obstructed bowel

My grandmother is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, kidney failure, which has lost 40 pounds in a few months. Now he is not eating, maybe a cracker here and there and a few sips of water. I wonder whether someone has, and what or how long to wait.

(My grandmother, she might in peace) came to rest in a deep depression when he was a stroke and was bedridden. Previously he was an active, self-sufficient woman had her car and drove as needed and took care of his house, which was by himself at age 28 (my grandfather, married to a divorced 16 / Y or a girl, and she had to work to support her two young children) too. Live in a situation where he can no longer care for their own basic needs, he said to my mother and me that "life is not too useful, I do not like this, please let me die." These are the last words she said is, she closed her eyes and mouth closed, we have tried him fluids, but there was no way it would take. The only time he opened his eyes to fight back was to the doctor, and even if we try to use a stomach tube. We decided not to put the tube, he has 12 days w / o lived, however, receive no food or water. I know she died of starvation, but was at his free will, and wesatisfied with their wishes to be alone and not force-feed her. If we do not have acted differently, everything, what we have done, only prolongs their pain and suffering. It is my conviction that what matters is the quality of life, not quantity. Incidentally, I have a living will, which is a legal document in which direct that my life can be prolonged by artificial means if one day all I get is in a similar situation, and that medication to alleviate pain and suffering too generous to give to me, even if the effect of shortening my life.
